Your Tooth Replacement Options

It’s important to replace missing teeth as soon as possible. Here are your options.

Thanks to modern dentistry, not only is it easy to replace missing teeth nowadays but also there are a ton of different ways in which to do it. Factors such as finances and your overall health can also determine the type of tooth replacement that’s best for you. Our North Haven, CT, dentists Drs. Joseph and Theodore Gargano offer everything from dentures to dental implants. No matter if you are missing one or all of your teeth, here are some of the most popular ways we restore smiles,

Dentures

If you are missing all or most of your teeth then dentures can offer our North Haven, CT, patients a simple and fast solution that will give them a full smile again in just a couple of visits. Just about anyone is an ideal candidate for dentures, which consist of a set of artificial teeth that sit on an acrylic base designed to look like gum tissue. Dentures are either held in place with clasps or through denture adhesives and natural suction.

Dental bridges

A dental bridge fills the gaps in your smile with one or two false teeth that are held in place by healthy neighboring teeth. In order to get bridges, our dentists will need to make sure that the natural teeth surrounding the gaps are healthy enough to support a bridge. If they are, then the natural teeth will be prepared to receive dental crowns.

The bridge itself is made up of crowns on both ends of the restoration, with false teeth in the middle. In order to anchor the false teeth in place, the crowns will need to be cemented into place over the natural teeth. This ensures that the false teeth stay permanently in place.

Dental implants

If your main goal is to get one or more false teeth that are as close to the real thing as possible then you’ll want to talk to us about getting dental implants. Most healthy individuals with a strong jawbone are ideal candidates for implants, small metal posts that take the place of tooth roots.

Once the metal post is placed into the jawbone it will fuse with bone and tissue permanently. From there, a crown is placed over a single implant, or bridge or dentures can be placed on top of several implants to hold several false teeth firmly in place.
